Party Tips: Throwing An Amazing Anniversary Party

A milestone anniversary will undoubtedly be full of many wonderful memories. You can print out pictures of the couple and their many adventures throughout the years. Use these pictures to decorate the venue. They can be framed and used as table centerpieces, made into a garland, or arranged on a wall to resemble the anniversary year.

To really get guests into the mood of an anniversary, you can hang up garland that has the numbers that make up the anniversary year (for example, the numbers 1 through 25 if it is a 25-year anniversary.) Under each number, list a fact corresponding to the number. For example, number 12 could be the date that the couple got married and 2 could be the number of kids they have. 5 could be the address of their first home together, 24 could be the age of their youngest daughter, and so on.

You can also give a nod to the year that the couple got married. If the couple got married in 1987, then you can set up a chalkboard at a table that lists certain facts about that year including who the prime minister was, what the price of gas was, how much a loaf of bread cost, and the average yearly income.

If you want to, you can theme the party on something that has significance to your relationship. If your first date was a picnic, you can have a picnic-theme party. Maybe your honeymoon was in Paris and you would like to have a Parisian-themed celebration.

You can also look to tradition to help you when it comes to the theme, colors, and decorating. The 25th anniversary is the silver anniversary while the 50th anniversary is the gold anniversary. You can use those colors to help you plan the details for your party. For a 25th or 50th anniversary, give out candy that is wrapped in gold or silver foil. The 20th year is the china anniversary, which might be great for a formal sit-down party where the food is served on china. The 5th year is the wood anniversary, a great excuse for an outdoorsy couple to have a rustic anniversary party.

One or two party games could be fun for the party. You can use this newlywed game for your anniversary party. Sit the couple in the middle of the room and ask them a few fun questions about their relationship to see if their answers are the same. The game gets fun when the couple answers the questions differently. Here are some fun questions that will be fun for this game:

  1. Who made the first move?
  2. Who controls the remote control?
  3. Who is more of a morning person?
  4. Who stays up later?
  5. Who does the dishes?
  6. Who is the better driver?
  7. Who is a better cook?
  8. Who spends the most time getting ready?
  9. Who is more likely to get lost?
  10. Who gives the best gifts?

These are just a few ways to celebrate a milestone anniversary. While there are many ways to make it a fun event, the most important thing is that you are surrounded by your loved ones who will help you celebrate this momentous occasion.
